Perfect Mango Smoothie

October 16, 2008

Serves: 1 Prep: 5 minutes

3 cups mango chunks
1 cup blueberries, raspberries, and strawberries
1 cup enriched rice milk
2 tbsp ground flax seeds
2 tbsp wheat germ
Optional: 1 tbsp locally-harvested honey

Mix in blender until smooth. These amounts (all approximate) create a very thick smoothie with the consistency of a milkshake. To thin it out add ice cubes. I use locally harvested-honey because it helps with my allergies. If you have plant allergies, try adding local honey to your diet!

PB & Banana Smoothie

October 16, 2008

Serves: 1 – 2. Prep: 5 minutes

2 ripe bananas
About 1/2 cup peanut butter
2 tbsp ground flax seeds
2 tbsp wheat germ
Optional: 1 tbsp locally-harvested honey
Ice cubes

Mix in blender until smooth. This is another smoothie that comes out more like a milkshake. Add more ice cubes to thin it out. This smoothie is very filling and perfect for those days when you’re on the go. I used to make these for breakfast in college and they kept me full until lunch. I use locally harvested-honey because it helps with my allergies. If you have plant allergies, try adding local honey to your diet!
